The Boulder County 4-H Horse Judging Team competed as the representative of Colorado 4-H, at the 4-H Western National Horse Classic Horse Judging contest, held during the 2012 National Western Stock Show. They were named the 2011 4-H Western National Champion Horse Judging Team, prevailing over the champion 4-H teams from 15 western states (AK, AZ, CA, CO, IA, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, NV, SD, TX, UT and WY). Only the champion teams from each state are invited to compete in the contest.
The Boulder County, Colorado horse judging team was:
3rd high team in overall halter 1st high team in overall performance 1st high team in overall reasons 1st high and Champion Team
Individually, Madison McKenzie was high individual and received a $1,000.00 scholarship from CSU and a $500.00 scholarship from the American Quarter Horse Assn. Team members Erin O’Kelley, Madison Harman and Madison Zeier each received $250.00 scholarships from CSU for their Top Ten placing.
JCAHC members are encouraged to contact their county extension agent for information about 4-H horse judging or contact Jodi Zeier, CAHC youth team judging coach regarding JCAHC horse judging. We plan to send a horse judging team to Tulsa in October of 2012 to compete in the Arabian National Horse Judging Contest.
